How can we help you?
At our office, we empower our patients to take charge of their own dental care and treat them as a valued member of their dental team. Effective education and understanding of the dental procedures and treatments we recommend is a part of that.
We encourage and welcome questions. Take a look at this selection of questions our patients ask often. If your question is not answered here, please give us a call or contact us online, and we will be happy to help you.
Same-Day Emergency Dental Care
We Work With You
If you have a broken tooth -- or any other dental emergency -- call us immediately for a same-day emergency dental appointment. Our office will treat the problem, relieve your pain, and work together with you to set up a plan for ongoing maintenance, if necessary.
Dental emergencies are a fact of life, and we’ve set our schedule to be able to accommodate most emergencies promptly – usually on the same day.
Call Us For a Dental Emergency
If you are having a dental emergency during regular office hours, simply call our Elk Grove Village dental office and tell the receptionist that you are having an emergency. Our receptionist is trained to ask the correct questions so that we can determine how quickly you need to be seen. In most cases, we can get you in that very same day.
If your emergency occurs after hours, call our regular number and you will be given further instructions. We can help you stay comfortable until the office opens in the morning or we may determine that it would be best for you to go to the emergency room.
Your Treatment is Our Priority
Our priority when treating an emergency is to relieve pain and prevent further damage. This may mean performing a root canal or extracting a tooth that is damaged beyond repair. Before we perform any treatment – even emergency treatment – we will discuss your options with you and let you know our recommendation and why we are making that recommendation. The final decision, however, is always in your hands.
Once the immediate issue is treated, we will plan for any necessary further treatment, which may include a dental crown or other restoration.
The easiest answer to this question is:
If you are in pain, call us.
Dental pain is never “normal.” It always indicates that something is wrong. The earlier we can check it out, the better a chance we have of catching the problem when it can be easily solved.
Dental emergencies can take many forms, though.
Some of the most common reasons we see patients on an emergency basis include:
- Dental pain
- A “pimple” or lesion on the gums (this usually indicates an abscess, a potentially dangerous infection)
- A broken tooth
- A tooth that has been knocked loose or completely out
- Injury to the gums or palate
- A foreign object lodged between the teeth or in the gums that can’t be removed with dental floss or brushing
- Damage to a dental restoration
- A lost dental restoration
We can usually get you in on the same day for dental emergencies. In some cases, speed is definitely an issue. For instance, if a tooth has been knocked out, the sooner we can see you, the better chance we have of reseating the tooth.
